Biography

I am currently both Instructional Technologist in Mesa Community College's Center for Teaching and Learning (for one year only) as well as a professor of writing and media studies in the English, Humanities and Journalism department. My scholarly pursuits generally explore interactions between humanities and technology. My work has appeared in Computers and Composition, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, Journal of Advancing Technology, Flow¸ as well as various edited collections.

Why am I interested in the Jetsons FPLC?

Personal Goals for the Jetsons FPLC

  • continue to play with new technologies and explore how they might better facilitate teaching and learning
  • continue to develop a generic method for assessing new technologies as they are implemented into a course

Personal Quirks/Missions

  • First...I'm bound determined to spread the word about social bookmarking...everyone should be using delicious or clipmarks or diigo or....
  • Second...finding ways to better spread the word about RSS...I think RSS is what drives Web 2.0 apps, if you don't understand how it works, you don't "get" the whole "social" element of it. The following You Tube video does a great job...I'm thinking from now on I'll always show it instead of trying to describe RSS.

I posted these both to my classes blogs. I don't ever want to explain RSS or social networking EVER AGAIN.
