Devon Christopher Adams

Biography

In 1992 my dad got a new computer at the office. Guess who got the old one? Me. Wow, I couldn't even tell you how SLOW or how small my new 8086 was. DOS was cool, and I spent my nights on a BBS in some lady's living room across town. We knew people by nicknames like Silver, Devo, Denim, and GeoBear. Eventually this group moved off line and became more of a hybrid community that intrigued me. I finally got a cool new program called Mosaic and could go to webpages! Cool grey pages with flickering different color pages about topics. Different topics, and I could even click on different things as long as someone didn't pick up the damn phone.

My junior research paper was written on a keyboard, and my senior research paper was a computer. A year later my grandmother died and left me some money. I got a spanking new pentium 100!! It only cost $4,000. I was hooked.

Here I am in 2007 with my first Macintosh after owning probably a dozen other computers and building almost all of them myself. With my MacBook Pro I almost remember how it was to pay thousands of dollars for a computer. :)

I was trying to figure out what to put here and so I wrote the little story above, and now I feel like I am joining a dating service by including who I am. So here goes.... I like long walks on the beach and candlelight dinners... but not really.

Devon Adams works fulltime at Basha High School where he has forced 190 kids make gmail accounts so his life would be easier. His wife works through MCC at the Chair Academy, and they hobnobbed at several Christmas parties on the ValVista lakes. This later led to an adjunct position at MCC where he dangerously met rrodrigo, began teaching Eng102 online, and, as they say, the rest is history.

Why am I interested in the Jetsons FPLC?

Personal Goals for the Jetsons FPLC

• continue to play with new technologies and explore how they might better facilitate teaching and learning
  
• continue to develop a generic method for assessing new technologies as they are implemented into a course
• continue to write what Shelley wrote
• continue to drink good "adult beverages" while doing everything above
• continue to find ways to teach high school & college students with tools they already like
