My name is Greg Pratt, I teach economics as residential faculty at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Az. In addition to my teaching and learning about the role of incentives, institutions and culture in understanding the behavior of the Jetsons I love to jog, spin (with the excellent faculty at MCC), yoga (is that the correct form of the word Shelley?), and this semester pilate.

In addition to my vocation here at MCC, I support the Foundation for Teaching Economics, the Arizona Council on Economic Education and the Arizona Society of Economics Teachers.

In one of my roles with the FTE, I am teaching a course aimed at k-12 teachers.

Lets see, I spend the summers in Bisbee with my lovely family. This summer I read Team of Rivals (you go girlfriend - don't let the paparazzi get you down Doris), Prophet of Innovation (a great bio of Joseph Schumpter - you have all been influenced by his work - think creative destruction, business strategy and the observation that static models are not real useful in understanding human behavior . . . duh, although most of my colleagues would ignore this glaring insight into the obvious), and I discovered the mystery writer Lee Childs and he must have been thinking of me when he created Jack Reacher.



I am training for a series of half marathons, but more important, my daughter Jennifer (age 31) is training for her first iron woman and I am so proud of her. My adult son Jeff is training for sloth (a chip off the old block) and my two young kids are transitioning from private school to Ward Traditional Academy - a bit of a move. At their old school - 15 students and two teachers, at Ward 32 students, shut up and keep that line straight. Sounds like my place of employment.

I forgot what we were supposed to write, but I signed on because of Biray and Shelley - two educators that I see as role models and who can help in my evolution as a learner.
